(Herrn Dietz sei Dank), scheint mir bemerkenswert zu sein, dass es  
heißt,
Google habe eine Zahlung in Höhe von $ 125 Millionen Dollar zu leisten.
Das klingt so nach einer Strafe ;-)
In Wirklichkeit finanziert Google damit den Aufbau der
„not-for-profit Book Rights Registry“, also einer sog. Wissensbank,  
(vergleichbar bei SFX)
mit der sozusagen vollautomatisch die Forderungen von Autoren und  
Verlagen
berechnet werden können. Mit diesem semantischen Register
werden also die Rechteinhaber identifiziert.

Das passt im Prinzip sehr gut in die Bemühungen der letzten Jahre
bei den DDC, FRBR, HILT, RDF oder SKOS.

Dass das Börsenblatt:

sich dazu zunächst negativ äußert und von einem trojanischen Pferd  
spricht,
scheint mir ebenfalls interessant.
