[InetBib] Umfrage eines EU Projekts (Langzeitarchivierung)

Liebe KollegInnen,

Manfred Thaller

I am contacting you to invite you and your organisation to take part in
a survey to testthe requirements of Planets’ products and services so
that these can be packaged and delivered in a way best suited to meet
institutions’ needs.

I am a member of the Scientific Board / Executive Steering Committee
ofPlanets (Preservation and Long-term Access through Distributed
Networks)* - a four-year international project co-funded by the European
Commission. The Project has recently issued a questionnaire to each of
the 96 National Libraries and Archives in Europe plus intermediary
institutions in EC member countries. The survey is open to any
individual or institution with an interest in retaining and accessing
digital content.

The results of the survey will be used to help us ensure that Planets’
outputs are packaged and delivered in a way which will best meet the
needs of potential future users. They will also be used to establish a
framework to ensure Planets outputs continue to provide benefits after
the project ends in May 2010.

To achieve the highest level of confidence in the results of the survey
we need to obtain responses from as many organisations as possible and
different types of institution. We would be very grateful if you can
assist us by completing, or arranging for a colleague to complete the
survey.

The survey is completed online, and will take a short time. You can find
it at: http://www.planets-project.eu/market-survey. Results will be
collated automatically when the form is submitted. While you cannot save
an electronic copy you can print the completed form off for your
records. The survey is open until 23:59 on 16 March 2009.

*Planets is a four-year project co-funded by the European Commission and
16 National Libraries, Archives, research and technology institutions in
Europe. The project will establish a suite of tools and services to
support and substantially automate the preservation process. The
project’s outputs will be vital to ensuring institutions in Europe can
preserve their digital information and access it in the long-term.

I do hope you will support this important initiative. We look forward to
receiving your response.
