Description:

The Cochrane Collaboration ([www.cochrane.org -> http://www.cochrane.org/]) is 
an international, non-profit medical research organisation specialising in the 
production of systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and working at the 
forefront of knowledge translation and dissemination of medical information.

We are seeking a Web Developer to join us ASAP. Currently, we have more than 
120 websites managed by hundreds of contributors around the world. This is a 
chance for a talented and experienced web developer to become involved with a 
large, non-profit organisation in an exciting and innovative project to use 
Drupal's functionality as a content management framework. The Web Developer 
will be involved in managing Cochrane's web presences, including our flagship 
site (cochrane.org), summaries.cochrane.org, a community site (intranet), 
online communities, discussion forums, blogs, and other social and 
collaborative working environments as well as, eventually, Web 3.0 and Semantic 
Web technology implementation and development.

Work time:100%

Length of contract: 2 years with the possibility of extension

Requirements:

Technical:

 
Excellent web development skills, preferably with:
 
 
demonstrated success implementing large, database-driven, multilingual websites 
using a CMS (preferably Drupal)
 
HTML/CSS (HTML5 and CSS3 a huge plus)
 
 
 
Some experience with PHP/MySQL technologies
 
Photoshop, Illustrator and other related design skills a huge plus


Personal:

 
Outstanding problem-solving skills
 
Able to work as both a team member and independently with people from many 
cultures and backgrounds
 
Willingness to learn and apply new software development tools, technologies and 
methodologies
 
Fluent in English
 
Ability to work under tight deadlines, while adhering to industry-standard 
development practices


Additional, optional qualifications:

 
Experience with Drupal theming
 
Experience working with the Drupal community
 
Knowledge of or interest in online health and medical information
