*** Apologies for cross-posting ***

FIZ Karlsruhe invites to the conference “Research Data Management:
Organizational, Technical, and Legal Challenges“ taking place at the ZKM |
Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe on September 15, 2014. It
is the first conference in FIZ Karlsruhe’s new series of events dedicated to
the topic “The Future of Information Infrastructure”. The main target audience
for the conference are scientific librarians and computer specialists
(administrators, developers, decision-makers) who are already professionally
dealing with management and storage of research data or who will have to work
in this field in the near future. The lectures held by internationally
renowned speakers will provide as much practical advice and information for
those dealing with this topic as possible. The conference will be held in
English, except for the session “Legal Issues” where the lectures will refer to
the German legal system.

The event will last the whole day and is complemented by two meetings on
related topics (at the same location, i.e. ZKM):

From September 16 – 18, 2014, the 13th international Preservation and Archiving
Interest Group (PASIG) Meeting will be held, with an “Oracle Day” and the
“Preservation Bootcamp“ as additional program items. As most PASIG speakers
come from America, participants will have the opportunity to network and
discuss these topics with international experts. Program and registration at:
www.fiz-karlsruhe/events/

On September 16, there will also be a workshop within the scope of the
DFG-financed RADAR (Research Data Repositorium) project. The workshop’s
objective is to provide information on the current status of the planned
services with respect to administration, storage and publication of research
data; to compare them with the requirements of potential users (scientists,
publishers, and institutions), and to discuss the findings. Program and
registration at: www.fiz-karlsruhe/events/
