liebe Kolleginnen, liebe Kollegen,
die Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB) bietet zusammen mit der Europeana ein 
Tutorial zum Thema Mappings, Anwendungsprofile und Erweiterungen für 
spartenübergreifende Metadaten auf der diesjährigen „International Conference 
on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL)“ an, die vom 14. bis zum 18. 
September 2015 in Posen (Polen) stattfindet.

The International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL) 
constitutes a leading scientific forum on digital libraries that brings 
together researchers, developers, content providers and users in the field of 
digital libraries. General theme of the TPDL 2015 is “Connecting Digital 
Collections” [1].
Valentine Charles (from Europeana) and Francesca Schulze (from the German 
Digital Library) will hold a tutorial on "Mappings, Application profiles and 
Extensions for cross-domain metadata in the Europeana context and beyond" on 
Monday, September 14 [2].
•       This tutorial will introduce the concepts of mappings, applications 
profiles and extensions in the cultural heritage domain [3].
•       It will present each concept, based on examples from various projects 
in the cultural heritage domain such as Europeana and the German Digital 
Library. The focus will be on issues encountered while creating these mappings, 
application profiles and extensions and on possible solutions.
•       Participants will then learn about the challenges raised by the re-use 
and of sharing of data schemas on the Web
•       It will present the latest results of the DCMI Task Group [4] working 
on practical recommendations for defining applications profiles in RDF and 
specifying RDF constraints and validation rules.
