Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,

ich lade Sie herzlich ein zu einem Vortrag mit anschließender Diskussion mit 
Chris Erdmann, dem Library Carpentry Community and Development Director aus den 
USA am 8. Mai bei ZB MED in Köln.
Library Carpentry ist eine diverse, globale Gemeinschaft von Freiwilligen, die 
Lehrinhalte für und mit Menschen aus dem Bibliotheks- und Informationsumfeld 
entwickeln und vermitteln. Ziel ist es, Grundlagen zu schaffen, um Software und 
Daten bei der täglichen Arbeit nutzen zu können. Daneben geht es aber auch 
darum, Vertreter und Trainer für den effizienten, effektiven und 
reproduzierbaren Umgang mit Daten und Software auszubilden.
Chris Erdmann wird die Ideen, Konzepte und Ansätze von Library Carpentry 
vorstellen. Er wird Pläne aufzeigen, wie Library Carpentry und The Carpentries 
die Gemeinschaft vergrößern wollen.
Nach dem Vortrag laden wir Sie herzlich dazu ein, eigene laufende und geplante 
Aktivitäten rund um Library Carpentry vorzustellen und Ihren eigenen Bedarf und 
 Ihre Wünsche zu äußern.

Dear collegues,

I would like to invite you to a lecture and discussion with Chris Erdmann, the 
Library Carpentry Community and Development Director from the USA, on 8 May at 
ZB MED in Cologne.
Library Carpentry is a diverse, global community of volunteers that develops 
lessons and teaches workshops for and with people working in library- and 
information-related roles. The goal is to create an on-ramp to empower this 
community to use software and data in their own work as well as be advocates 
for and train others in efficient, effective and reproducible data and software 
practices.
Chris Erdman will present the ideas, concepts and approaches behind Library 
Carpentry and how Library Carpentry and the Carpentries intends to grow the 
community.
After the talk we would like to invite you to discuss ongoing and planned 
Library Carpentry related activities in your institution as well as your needs 
and wishes regarding it.
