Workshop 2: "Media Literacy for the Information Professional"

This seminar aims at five key themes within the subject of teaching 
media literacy:
information literacy, visual literacy, new media literacies, textual 
literacy, news literacy.

It will be highly diverse and interactive using discussions, group work, 
lectures, presentations and games.
The participants develop workshops which they can further develop into 
executable routines that can be implemented within their (future) 
working environment.

Workshop 3: "Introduction to Multimedia Systems"

This workshop aims to introduce the current trends of multimedia to the 
participants.
Emphasize will be given to the understanding of digital audio, digital 
image, digital video and multimedia systems.

Workshop 4: "Intercultural Encounters"

The workshop aims to build and strengthen the sensitivity and competence 
to deal with international partners and to reflect one's own behavior 
and cultural background.

Course topics will include: cultural differences, cultural dimensions 
and differences, communication with partners from other cultures, 
empathy, conflict solutions, encounter strategies, and self reflection.
The course is designed to be highly interactive, with an e-learning part 
(prior to the workshop in Stuttgart), discussions, group work, 
lecturers, presentations, and a strategy game.

Workshop 5: "Management und Technik Digitaler Bibliotheken"
(04. - 07.05.2010 + e-learning)

In diesem Workshop befassen Sie sich mit den Grundlagen, aktuellen 
Trends und Entwicklungen der Beschaffung und Bereitstellung 
elektronischer Medien sowie der Retro-Digitalisierung und 
Langzeitspeicherung aus der Perspektive wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken.

Der Workshop sieht eine E-Learning-Phase vorab sowie Impulsreferate, 
Seminare und Übungen am PC vor.

Im Rahmen des Workshops findet eine eintägige Exkursion statt, die 
Einblicke in die Durchführung aktueller Digitalisierungsprojekte einer 
Bibliothek ermöglicht.

Workshop 6: "Strategic Management for Electronic Publishing:
Scholarly Information in Today's Electronic Environment"
(10. - 12.05.2010)

This workshop will look at the current trends in the scientific, 
technical, and medical publishing (STM) industry.
Particularly emphasis will be given to understanding the changes that 
are occurring in the dissemination of scholarly information.

This course is intended to be highly interactive, including discussions 
as well as the analysis of several industry study cases in small groups.
