Renku - die ETH-Plattform für digitale Reproduzierbarkeit in der Wissenschaft

Einladung zum 17:15 Kolloquium der ETH-Bibliothek - auch 2021 virtuell



Seien Sie am nächsten 17:15 Kolloquium dabei, wenn Dr. Andreas Bleuler, Senior 
Computer Scientist am Swiss Data Science Center über die ETH-Plattform Renku 
spricht.

Der allgemeine Mangel an Reproduzierbarkeit ist ein bekanntes Problem in der 
akademischen Forschung. Dieser Mangel erstreckt sich auch auf die digitalen 
Aspekte einer Forschungsarbeit: Allzu oft können nicht einmal die rein 
rechnerischen Schritte einer Datenmodellierung oder eine Computersimulation 
durch unabhängige Forscherinnen und Forscher zuverlässig nachvollzogen werden.

Die Plattform Renku des Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) möchte folgende Ziele 
erreichen: digitale Reproduzierbarkeit, Wiederverwendbarkeit von Code und 
Daten, Einfachheit der Zusammenarbeit.

Dr. Andreas Bleuler zeigt in seinem Referat auf, wie Renku hierbei den Aufwand 
für Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler drastisch reduziert, indem es 
Technologien wie Git, GitLab, Docker oder Jupyterlab zu einer einfach zu 
benutzenden Plattform vereint.



Veranstaltungssprache ist Deutsch. Das 17:15 Kolloquium findet um 17.15 Uhr auf

Die Formel des 17:15 Kolloquiums lautet: 30 Minuten Vortrag + 30 Minuten 
Diskussion + Gesprächsrunde in Kleingruppen = Inspiration für den Arbeitsalltag.

Invitation to the 17:15 Colloquium by the ETH Library - also in 2021 virtually



Join us at the next 17:15 Colloquium when Dr Andreas Bleuler, senior computer 
scientist at the Swiss Data Science Center talks about the ETH platform Renku.

The general lack of reproducibility is a well-known problem in academic 
research. This lack also extends to the digital aspects of research work: all 
too often, not even the purely computational steps of a data modelling or a 
computer simulation can be reliably reproduced by independent researchers.

The Renku platform of the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) aims to achieve the 
following goals: digital reproducibility, reusability of code and data, 
simplicity of collaboration.

In his presentation, Dr Andreas Bleuler shows how Renku drastically reduces the 
workload for scientists by combining technologies such as Git, GitLab, Docker 
and Jupyterlab into an easy-to-use platform.



The event language is German with slides in English. The 17:15 Colloquium takes 
place at 17.15 virtually on Zoom. Please register for this event:

The 17:15 Colloquium formula is: a 30-minute presentation + a 30-minute 
discussion + a round of discussions in small groups = inspiration for our daily 
working lives.
