Liebe Kolleg*innen,

der nächste Open Access Talk findet bereits am 27. April 2023 von 14-15 Uhr
statt. Dieses Mal beschäftigen wir uns mit Open Access Best Practices und was
Publizierende hierzu beachten sollten. Der Talk wird auf Englisch abgehalten.
Wir würden uns sehr freuen, wenn Sie den englischsprachigen Ankündigungstext
(s.u.) an Ihren Institutionen weiter verbreiten würden. Für Fragen und
Anregungen stehe ich selbstverständlich zur Verfügung. Fühlen Sie sich herzlich
eingeladen dazu zu kommen.

Dear all,

The next Open Access Talk "Good open access: minium requirements vs best
practice" will take place on 27th April 2023 from 2-3 pm (CET).

Open Access aims to enable people worldwide to access scholarly information
without barriers. To achieve this, various publication channels exist, and the
number of possible publication venues continues to grow. The presentation will
focus on explaining which selection criteria should be applied when choosing a
publication venue in order to best achieve the goals of the Open Access
movement. For this purpose, we take a closer look at the myths that still exist
regarding Open Access.

The following questions will be discussed:

. What best practices should I follow in publishing open access?
. What initiatives are there to push forward the publishing system's
transformation?
. Which tools can help me to find a suitable publication venue?

The event is in English. Researchers, students and all other interested parties
are invited. The presentation will take half an hour. Afterwards, there will be
plenty of room for questions and discussion. Registration is not required. You
can participate via the following link: https://meet.gwdg.de/b/jes-dwc-6zq

The talk will be given by Dr. Stefan Schmeja and Jesko Rücknagel from the
Technische Informationsbibliothek. Stefan Schmeja works in the publication
services and advises researchers in particular on publishing opportunities in
open access. Jesko Rücknagel works in the open-access.network project.
