INFO: NEW EMAIL CONFERENCE - SCANDINAVIAN USED BOOKS MARKETPLACE

Dear Bookfriends,

I, Niclas S. Wallin of "Skriptoriet Konsulttjänster", have started a mailing list much like "Biblio" or "Antiqbook", but for the Scandinavian used books market.

To begin with there will probably be many more Scandinavian librarians than bookdealers on this list, but this of course will be of interest to any dealer who wants to offer books they think are of interest to libraries in this region of the world. I hope this list will serve as a gateway to aqcuisitions librarians in the future.

There will be few rules on number of messages to begin with etc.

Message address is: limes _at__ linux.wineasy.se
Subscription address: Majordomo _at__ linux.wineasy.se
"subscribe limes" placed in body of message.

(English version:)

WELCOME to "LIMES" - the e-mail conference for the Scandinavian used books market!

NAME: "LIMES" of Latin "limes" - border line, border between properties, road, path etc.

MESSAGE ADDRESS: limes _at__ linux.wineasy.se

SUBSCRIPTION ADDRESS: Majordomo _at__ linux.wineasy.se

To subscribe do like this: Post to subscription address. Leave subject line empty. In message field, write like this: subscribe limes

PURPOSE OF THIS CONFERENCE:

The purpose of this list is to create an effective network for buying and selling books in Scandinavia within the used books and antiquarian books marketplace. Also to establish a place to inform one another of activities within this field.

SUBJECTS:

The users are invited to post "FS:", and "WTB:" lists of interest to the Scandinavian collectors and dealers. This could be material in any language, but preferrably with some connection to the Scandinavian countries. Apart from these subjects, this list can be addressed with questions under the acronym "FR:" (=Query), or "DISKUSSION:" (=Discussion/Topic).

MORE ON SUBJECTS:

These subjects´ acronyms must be used. They help users to use filters on their e-mail inboxes. "WTB:" and "FS:" acronyms are English/American in origin but are kept here to facilitate for our foreign subscribers.

RULES:

Accepted languages: Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, English, German, French and Italian. (The last three only when the subscriber won´t be able to write in English. Or if it is existing catalogue material in native their language.)

Marketing on this list is O.K. so far as it is a matter of books related products or activities.
Personal insults are unacceptable and will probably result in expulsion of the offender.

Warnings about not so serious customers or dealers is a sensitive area: ask the administrator before any such message is posted to the list.

Info about stolen books or material is O.K. and is encouraged as far as it does not name any specific person.

THOSE WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE RULES:

The worst thing that can happen an offender on this list (caused by me) is expulsion from the list.

TYPICAL USERS:

Antiquarian book shops, collectors and librarians in Scandinavia.

TERMS:

All who want to sell material on this list, ought to include the following info in their messages:

1. Telefon number, fax (if posssible) and e-mail address.
2. Postal address.
3. Terms of payment and accepted methods of payment.
4. Postage to add to list prices.
5. Return policy.

FEE:

All subscribers are allowed at least one half of a year for free. Thereafter a fee of 200 SEK/year will be asked if the subscriber is a company or an institution. Private collectors will be asked for 150 SEK/year. Those who do not pay on demand will be taken off the list, nothing worse than that. Just when, after the first one-and-a-half of a year, fees will actually be asked for will depend on the speed with wich this list grows. I won´t charge until this list really provides a service.

CHANGES:

The owner retains the right to change these terms at any moment, but will post any new terms to the list well before they will take effect!
