das Internationale Komitee des Roten Kreuzes in Genf bietet folgende
interessante Stelle an, für deren Besetzung sicherlich auch
Bibliothekare/innen aus dem gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum in Frage kommen
können, besonders da es sich um eine internationale und keine nationale
Institution handelt.

The  International  Committee  of  the  Red  Cross  (ICRC),  an independent
humanitarian  organization  whose  mandate  is  to  provide  protection and
assistance  for  victims of armed conflict and internal disturbances, has a
vacancy at its headquarters in Geneva for a

                             Legal Researcher
                        Library & Research Service
                           male or female (80 %)
Purpose of the post:
To contribute to the Library & Research Service's mission to respond to the
information needs of the ICRC's staff and the general public. Offering a
central point of service to all divisions, the Library & Research Service
conducts research and selects information from external sources and from
its own collections to meet the requirements at headquarters and in the
field. The open-access Library & Research Service has at its disposal of
over 140'000 documents covering a wide range of humanitarian issues, and
helps to promote the ICRC's principles and activities among the public and
the media, especially through its photo/video collections.

Main responsibilities:
- Establishing a web-based current awareness service (on geopolitical,
  economic  and legal issues).
- Scanning and eletronic distribution of news sheets to ICRC staff.
- Providing legal information and research services to the organization's
  lawyers.
- Providing general information support to the public.
- Participating in the Library's information skills training programme.

Selection requirements:
- A degree qualification in Law, preferably in International Humanitarian
  Law.
- A diploma in Librarianship or Information Science.
- At least two years professional experience as a qualified researcher.
- IT skills.
- Excellent English and French. Other languages an asset, especially
  German.

Your profile:
- Ability to work as part of a team, but also to work independently.
- Customer focused.

Minimum length of assignment:  two years

Starting dat : as soon as possible
