Betreff: EUSIDIC Annual Conference

F I R S T A N N O U N C E M E N T !!!!!!!!

EUSIDIC ANNUAL CONFERENCE
30 September - 3 October 2001
Kongreßhaus
Baden-Baden, Germany
Kongreßsaal I

INFORMATION VALUE CHAIN
Status and Future Developments

"Despite the apparently successful shift from print to an increasingly
electronically dominated information world, the relationship of print and
digital content is currently an uneasy one. It is marked by sometimes
vehemently conflicting claims of competing stakeholders (publishers,
libraries, authors, consumers) and full of discontinuities and uncertainties
which suggest that market maturity is still years away".

(Jonathan Eaton in Dialout, Managing Information, April 2001, p. 24)

This conference held in the city of Baden-Baden covers three days of
presentations by prominent personalities from the Global Information
Community assessing the current state of the electronic publishing industry
and the evolving information value chain: recent developments, trends,
strategies and impact on the information society.

The conference is aimed at information professionals, business executives,
vendors, publishers, librarians, and end-users. It will provide a forum for
EUSIDIC members and non-members to get together to share ideas and discuss
the challenges of the explosive growth of new technologies, their changing
roles and their needs in positioning their organisations in a marketplace in
transition.

The event will start on Sunday 30 September with an opportunity for
delegates to discover Baden-Baden in the morning, or to take part in a
full-day Black-Forest Tour. The presentations of the first conference day
will be complemented by a guided tour to the Radio and Television
Broadcasting Station 'SWR'.
