Zur Information:

NetLibrary to provide eBooks to German academic libraries - 15 Jun 2006

NetLibrary, the e-content platform of global library cooperative OCLC, Inc.,
US, has announced an agreement with Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, one of the
largest academic libraries in Germany, to provide eBooks to the latter.

The agreement calls for an initial purchase of 1,000 English language titles in
subject areas such as engineering, social sciences, business and arts. The
purchase is part of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft’s (DFG) efforts to improve
access to electronic content throughout Germany. DFG is the central,
self-governing research funding organisation that promotes research at
universities and other publicly financed research institutions in Germany.

The eBooks will be available to academic libraries throughout Germany,
including Berlin State Library, Goettingen State and University Library,
Technical Information Library Hanover and the State and University Library of
Dresden. In addition to accessing titles through Bayerische Staatsbibliothek,
participating libraries will also be able to enhance their collection by
purchasing NetLibrary content of their own.
