Retrodigitalisierung – Mehr darüber erfahren und mitdiskutieren



Zehn Jahre e-rara wird mit einer virtuellen Podiumsdiskussion gefeiert: ein 
Austausch unter Experten, Forschenden und Wissenschaftsinteressierten zum Thema 
«Retrodigitalisierung in der Schweiz».



Seien Sie dabei, wenn am 20. April 2021 im Rahmen einer öffentlichen virtuellen 
Podiumsdiskussion die «Erfolgsgeschichte e-rara.ch<http://www.e-rara.ch>» im 
Fokus steht. Aufgeschaltet im Jahr 2010 feiert die Plattform für digitalisierte 
Drucke aus Schweizer Institutionen ihr 10-jähriges Jubiläum coronabedingt ein 
Jahr verspätet.



Im Dienste der Forschung und Lehre

Für Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler, aber auch für alle Interessierten 
wurde mit e-rara eine Plattform geschaffen, die Wissen nicht nur bewahrt, 
sondern auch teilt. Denn mit der Retrodigitalisierung werden historische 
Bestände für die wissenschaftliche Forschung sowie für die Öffentlichkeit 
gesichert, aufbereitet und online bereitgestellt.



Das Programm am 20. April 2021, 14–15.30 Uhr

Die Podiumsdiskussion startet mit einem Vortrag, der die Entwicklung der 
Plattform nachzeichnet und die bisherige Arbeit zusammenfasst. Die neuen 
Herausforderungen und Ziele der Retrodigitalisierung werden anschliessend in 
einer Runde von Expertinnen und Experten diskutiert, die an der Entwicklung von 
e-rara beteiligt waren oder sie für ihre Forschung nutzen.



Wer diskutiert?

Neues zur Plattform, Einblicke ins Thema Retrodigitalisierung: Auf dem Podium 
diskutieren Prof. Dr. Rudolf Mumenthaler, Direktor Universitätsbibliothek 
Zürich, die Kunsthistorikerin Sonja Gasser, die beiden Forschenden und 
Lehrenden im Bereich Digital Humanities Prof. Dr. Tobias Hodel und Julien A. 
Raemy. Moderiert wird die Runde von Michael Gasser, Leiter der Sektion 
Sammlungen und Archive der ETH-Bibliothek. Begrüsst werden Sie durch Andreas 
Kirstein, Stv. Direktor der ETH-Bibliothek.

Doch auch Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, mitzudiskutieren und Fragen zu stellen!

Die im Rahmen des Projekts «e-lib.ch: Elektronische Bibliothek Schweiz» 
entwickelte Plattform e-rara.ch<http://www.e-rara.ch/> wurde im Jahre 2010 
aufgeschaltet. Die Bibliothèque de Genève, die ETH-Bibliothek, die 
Universitätsbibliothek Basel, die Universitätsbibliothek Bern und die 
Zentralbibliothek Zürich betreiben die Plattform gemeinsam.

Retrospective digitisation – find out more and join in the discussion



We will celebrate ten years of e-rara with a virtual panel discussion – an 
exchange between experts, researchers and people interested in science on 
“Retrospective digitisation in Switzerland”.



Join us for a public virtual panel discussion on 20 April 2021, focusing on the 
e-rara.ch<http://www.e-rara.ch> success story. Launched in 2010, the platform 
for digitised prints from Swiss institutions will celebrate its ten-year 
anniversary one year later than it should have done due to the coronavirus 
pandemic.



Helping to facilitate research and teaching

In e-rara, a platform has been created for academics and everyone interested 
that both preserves and shares knowledge. Using retrospective digitisation, 
historical holdings can be secured, processed and made available online for 
scientific researchers and the general public.



The programme for 20 April 2021 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

The panel discussion will start with a presentation that traces the development 
of the platform and provides a summary of the work carried out to date. The new 
challenges and aims of retrospective digitisation will then be discussed by a 
panel of experts that have been involved in the development of e-rara or use it 
for their research.



Who is taking part in the discussion?

The panel will provide new information on the platform and insights into the 
topic of retrospective digitisation and comprises Professor Rudolf Mumenthaler, 
Director of the Zurich University Library, art historian Sonja Gasser and the 
Digital Humanities researchers and lecturers Professor Tobias Hodel and Julien 
A. Raemy. The discussion will be presented by Michael Gasser, Head of 
Collections and Archives at the ETH Library. You will be greeted by Andreas 
Kirstein, Deputy Director of the ETH Library.

You are also welcome to join in the discussion and ask any questions you may 
have!



Good to know: The panel discussion will take place virtually, registration is 
not required. The link to the event will be made available on our website on 20 
April 2021.
